About

SLAB is a university-based literary magazine and our reading period is August 1 to February 14. Any submissions outside this reading period will most likely languish until the magazine starts up again in autumn.

We seek on-the-cusp poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and text-based graphic art. We do not publish religious or children's stories. The best way to see what we publish is to view content of our past issues in our archives. SLAB not only functions as an undergraduate organization, but has a national presence as well; in 2012 it was awarded the National Program Directors' Prize for Undergraduate Literary Magazines by the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP). Students who are involved in SLAB have the opportunity to develop themselves as leaders, gain valuable experience in editing, attend national conferences and in some instances, to work with famous authors.
